Project

Vermont House

Built in the 1850s, The Vermont House was one of the original inns in the Town of Wilmington, VT. Dupuis Construction managed the interior and exterior remodeling of the structure in 2014.

The building was in desperate need of major structural repairs as well as a complete renovation, both inside and out. The first floor, which was originally a restaurant and bar, was transformed into modern, accessible rooms and a lounge where guests can gather by the fireplace. We added a total of 10 new rooms, and designed a new 3-bedroom suite within the existing building. We also built an ADA-certified, accessible patio area for guests, and added fire egress stairs in the back of the building.

In working on this project in our hometown, it was important for all of us at Dupuis to maintain the historical value of the building and leave the exterior unaltered. We freshened it up by resurfacing the porches, repainting clapboards, repairing the slate roof and replacing the windows with new, energy-efficient Marvin windows. Throughout all the major renovations, we were able to keep the original charm this building had to offer.
